4g technology

4G TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT
4G stands for Fourth Generation Technology and is successor of 3G Technology. In 2009, the ITU-R organization specified the IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced) requirements for 4G standards, setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at 100 Mbit/s (Mega bit per Second) for high mobility communication such as from trains and cars and 1 Gbit/s (Gega bit per Second) for low mobility communication such as pedestrians and stationary users.
The evoluation from 3G to 4G will be driven by services that offer better quality (e.g.  video and sound) thanks to greater bandwidth, more sophistication in the association of a large quantity of information, and improved personalization. Convergence with other network (enterprise, fixed) services will come about through the high session data rate. Machine-to-machine transmission will involve two basic equipment types: sensors (which measure arameters) and tags (which are generally read/write equipment). It is expected that users will require high data rates, similar to those on fixed networks, for data and streaming applications. These are two 4G cellular broadband networks. The WiMAX provides speed up to 128mbps of downloading and for uploading it provides 56mbps,whereas LTE showed in an early implementation speed up to 100mbps downloading and 50mbps uploading.      .
INTRODUCTION
The technology is currently available in some countries but it is still being 4G, the successor of 3G, will soon become the standard for cellular wireless Perfected. The aim is to achieve “ultra broadband speed” – to be counted in gigabytes per second.
4G Technology
When talking about 4G, question comes to our mind is what is 4G Technology. 4G is short for Fourth (4th) Generation Technology. 4G Technology is basically the extension in the 3G technology with more bandwidth and services offers in the 3G. But at this time nobody exactly knows the true 4G definition. Some people say that 4G technology is the future technologies that are mostly in their maturity period. The expectation for the 4G technology is basically the high quality audio/video streaming over end to end Internet Protocol. If the Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia sub-system movement achieves what it going to do, nothing of this possibly will matter. WiMAX or mobile structural design will become progressively more translucent, and therefore the acceptance of several architectures by a particular network operator ever more common.

HISTORY OF 4G TECHNOLOGY
In telecommunications, 4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to the 3G and 2G families of standards. In 2009, the ITU-R organization specified the IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced) requirements for 4G standards, setting peak speed requirements for 4G service at100 Mbit/s for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility

communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users).

One of the key technologies for 4G and beyond is called Open Wireless Architecture (OWA), supporting multiple wireless air interfaces in an open architecture platform.
A 4G system is expected to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based mobile broadband solution to laptop computer wireless modems, smartphones, and other mobile devices. Facilities such as ultra-broadband Internet access, IP telephony, gaming services, and streamed multimedia may be provided to users.

FACILITY ON 4G TECHNOLOGY
Hammad on March 24, 2010 Sprint has announced the phone everyone was eagerly waiting for. Yes, the first ever 4G phone, HTC Evo 4G, with a massive 4.3’ display, 1GHz QSD8659 1GHz snapdragon processor, 1gb built-in memory and a monstrous 8mp camera with the capability of 720p video and WiMax as its 4g technology
Other features of HTC Evo 4g include Android 2.1 OS, 512mb Ram, micro SD card which can be upgraded to 32Gb, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Sprint TV, HDMI Output, 1.3 mp forward-facing camera, Assisted-GPS with Sprint Navigation, seven home screens, a personal organizer, Google apps, Sprint TV, messaging, and Outlook Exchange support for contacts and e-mail. One of the best features is that it can be used as a Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Other physical controls include a 3.5mm headset hack, a micro-USB port, a power control, and a volume rocker.
IMPORTANCE OF 4G TECHNOLOGY
The word MAGIC also refers to 4G technology which stands for Mobile multimedia, Any-where, Global mobility solutions over, integrated wireless and Customized services access any information on the Internet with the click of a single button, no matter where they are. In fact, Wireless Internet is becoming such a wireless companies like Clear 4G etc. With the spread of wireless Internet usage, many people are now connected to the Web just about twenty four hours a day, meaning that they can send and receive Emails more efficiently, are practically never out of touch, and can widespread reality that it is now very important to look into signing up with a suitable provider so as not to be left behind.

The first thing to consider when choosing a Wireless provider is that if you want to, you can look beyond the big, standard cellular companies. Because these companies constantly advertise their smart phones’ access to 3G and 4G Wireless Services, many people assume that they are the only companies that actually offer these services. However, in reality, there are also companies that do not necessarily sell Cellular devices or Laptops, but they specialize in providing you with cheap and clear Wireless Service!

With such services, all you need is to plug-in a MODEM to your Laptop or Wireless Device, and you will immediately gain access to the Internet, no matter what your current location is, as long as you are within the range of a 4G Network (a range that is getting wider and wider). This means that whether you are sitting in the stands watching a football game, lounging in a bookstore or cafe, or simply staying at home, you can access the Internet on your own, without needing to know the name and password of any specific wireless network, as your own device will have its own connection.

GLOBAL 4G OPEN MOBILE INITIATIVES
The first mobile phone was invented in the United States back in the 1960s by Bell Labs, but the US mobile communications market has remained very much closed and far behind the international movement towards the open market of the global industry. Now the world is evolving rapidly into a personal communications era with true openness and freedom in mobile services, but in our opinion, the US is still lagging about ten years behind other countries, such as China, with regards to having a more open and competitive market in wireless communications.

THE MOBILE RACE TO INNOVATE
The mobile communications comprise two steps: access to the mobile network, and access to the mobile services. Traditionally, these two steps are all controlled by one operator in a closed and proprietary way. In the 4G mobile era, the access to the mobile services will be evolved to an open Mobile Cloud so that it is fully open to any developers and providers. In this way, any non-wireless industries, such as Google, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, GM, Bank of America can provide services for their mobile users. The access to the mobile network is still controlled by the traditional wireless operators such as AT&T, Verizon,  T-Mobile and China Mobile. Of course, the operators are very reluctant to go this trend, but for the mobile users and for the future global movement, it is just a matter of time to do it.

The mobile device system architecture will be open in order to converge multiple RTTs (radio transmission technologies) in one same device. Same as laptop computer, the future Smartphone will be based on open wireless architecture (OWA) technology which means, when you change the wireless standards, you do not need to change phone. It is totally different from current multi-standards phone which is in closed system architecture, and users can not remove the unused RTT modules and basically cannot do anything on the mobile phone system. In the OWA system, you can just change RTT card in your Smartphone to switch your wireless standards, or you can integrate multiple wireless standards in one RTT SIM card. Based on this OWA platform, you can integrate home phone, office phone and mobile phone into one common Personal device - it is more beyond just a phone. In fact, this 4G mobile device is a system to bring the world to your hand, or we call it Is Hand - the World in Hand, which is more better than calling it an iPhone.
Any portable consumer electronics device can be a mobile phone by inserting the OWA-powered mobile RTT(s) card. This approach is truly converging the mobile wireless technology with the computer technology by providing the OWA virtualization layer between the high-layer computer-based OS (operating systems) & applications solutions and the underlying wireless transmission-based different mobile networks access means.

More breakthrough technologies are being developed for efficient utilization of wireless spectrum, and the dynamic and open spectrum management. Wireless is totally different from wired communications, and therefore the overall performance relies on both system performance and transmission performance where spectrum is one of the key issues.

Power efficiency is another critical issue for mobile device. The system architecture must be open to enable removable of unused modules, and the processing architecture must be optimized to the lowest possible in terms of the whole system performance. Meanwhile, the RF radio modules should be narrowed to the minimal meeting the basic requirements of necessary RTTs.

4G  GOING TO BE LAUNCH
NTT Docomo is planning to launch 4G services in Japan around 2010-2015. Earlier it announced that it would be launching the service in 2006-2008. But at the same time has said that the data transfer would be maximum of 20Mbps. Recently they have started calling this intermediate launch as 'Super-3G'.

Main features of 4G Technology
The 4G technology will be able to support Interactive services like Video Conferencing (with more than 2 sites simultaneously), Wireless Internet, etc. The bandwidth would be much wider (100 MHz) and data would be transferred at much higher rates. The cost of the data transfer would be comparatively very less and global mobility would be possible. The networks will be all IP networks based on IPv6. The antennas will be much smarter and improved access technologies like OFDM and MC-CDMA (Multi Carrier CDMA) will be used. Also the security features will be much better.

4G HAS MORE LIMITS THAN THE OLDER 3G
The US of A has been the breeding ground for the latest technologies in the internet services and that has been proven over and again. The advent of the broadband in the late 90s, GPRS with AMPS and GSM, then wireless broadband connections in the form of 3G, have all been the living examples for evidence the premise. Now, the fourth generation of technology in the wireless networks is going places in the US. More and more cities and counties are being enveloped by the likes of AT&T and Verizon.
However, the faster the speed is the more the consumers devour the data. And that is one fact that is nagging the users who like faster speeds but are also big biters of the data available online. These aforementioned wireless carriers have no doubt introduced new 4G techs like LTE and HSPA+ (recently approved by International Telecommunication Union). These networks offer greater speeds at low costs to the carriers but the same amount charged to the customers.
Most customers signing up for 4G data services still pay the same amount every month to their carrier as those that use a 3G network. Sprint Nextel even made subscribers pay $10 a month more for 4G WiMax service.
This has however, been recently changed to the liking of the customers who prefer  4G over the older 3G.

·         Higher bandwidth
·         Better response time. 10 times better then 3G
·         Works at 2.6GHz frequency which means better coverage even though it uses the same tower where the receiver and transmitter for 3G is.
·         Less time to build 4G because it use the same tower and fiber cables as 3Gs - they only have to upgrade the towers with 4G components.

EVOLUTION OF 4G
·         The first commercial deployment was by Telia Sonera and Netcom
·         Telia Sonera branded the network “4G”
·         The modem devices on offer were manufactured by Samsung (dongle GT-B3710)
·         The network infrastructure were created by Huawei (in Oslo) and Ericsson (in Stockholm)

CONCLUSION
4G Technology has made changes in the communication. It would help in the mobile communication as better manner.4G Technology is an advanced Technology that is going to dominate in the mobile communication world in the near future.
